IDEAS & APPARATUS was created by Brian Block to serve the print based nature of the Notes of F.C. Wott project.

I&A is an artist run operation for producing and circulating new ideas in printed art.

OUR CONTEXT:

1   I&A was named for the vital role that printing has played in the circulation of knowledge in intellectual history.

2    I&A approaches art as a form of experimental knowledge production.

3    I&A aims to put digital printing to the service of the mind’s eye.

4    I&A is focused on art that generates new forms of perception.

5.  I&A is particularly focused on pushing the iterative power of digital printing with the complexity of iterative cognition.

6.    In this time of widespread disruption, we trust the artists. We question art authorities.

7.  “Intellect and emotion, thought and feeling, and form and content are the same false dichotomy”
      - Donald Judd (Notes, 1983).

8.    “The book is the artwork” C. Boutin (Konfekt Issue 20).
