“In my research and paintings of wall labels I’ve been interested this threshold between language and visual knowledges. As more of analogue experience is translated into information by technological imperatives, I pause.”
This volume is an interpretive art work in the form of a book. It was my first I&A artist book effort where I chose a specific group of photos from my museum wall label photo archive to see how they might exist differently in this context. It contains photos of all the wall labels of the 2017 Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art, compiled in random order.
The title is cribbed from Facebook’s image recognition algorithm. This de-contextualization of the labels out of their habitat into a book apart supports various readings.
