Richard Pasquarelli
“My work studies the relationship between our minds and
physical reality. They are portraits of the psyche.”
Pasquarelli Studio, Bronx, NY
Pasquarelli’s work actuates a visual language which represents the workings of the human mind. Through analysis of his own OCD, and research into mental health, philosophy, and the physical properties of nature, Pasquarelli seeks to better understand the connections between physical reality and the mind: making visible everyday aspects of our experience of the world and evidence of our presence within it.
“If an object is even slightly moved, I notice it,
and feel obliged to ‘correct’ its position.
My compulsive behavior is my greatest distraction
and my greatest inspiration.”
